We went for lunch at The Plough on Saturday. It was relatively quiet inside and so quite peaceful! We hadn't eaten there for a while and were pleasantly surprised, the food was really good and the service was fine although we weren't offered any bread and butter when we were first seated! Just a detail but a detail missed.

We stayed here for one night, as we were on a cruise from Southampton the following day. Beautiful room, spotlessly clean and very comfortable bed. Lovely garden to sit and enjoy a drink. Evening meal was excellent. Friendly staff. Gorgeous location with nice walks from the door. Everything was excellent.

Lovely pub in a very idyllic part of Winch. Very nice space inside in the cooler weather but it was glorious yesterday so we spent a very pleasant afternoon out on the terrace. Plenty of shade and sun depending on your preference. Food was great - recommend the beef bourguignon pie which was delicious. Good service and plenty of parking.

A very nice hotel in a good location, quiet despite the road. The room, service, and food were consistently excellent; we felt completely at ease. We can wholeheartedly recommend it – we would gladly return.

The menus on the day weren’t the same as those seen on the website. Ideally the webpages would be kept up to date. But the food options available were delicious.

Very high quality meals (both diner and breakfast). It will make you forget about the general food quality in england. Here it was DELICIOUS.
The room are comfy, beds are divine though you can here slightly from the rooms when there is noise downstairs or in adjacent rooms. The pub closes at 22:30 and after, the noise dies out so no need to be worried for the whole night.
Overall, one of the best experience I had in England. Highly recommend!

Had Saturday lunch at The Plough today. The pub might not be such a looker from the outside but don’t let this put you off: the food and service we experienced was exceptional. All the food coming out looked great. There are classic pub dishes alongside an imaginative menu of local flavours that we really enjoyed. Ate on the terrace and the inside was very inviting too. I appreciated that they allowed us to park so that we could go walking before lunch and also that they didn’t just slap on the service charge - we were of course very happy to pay this for such a warm welcome and delicious lunch.

Our annual family get together was this year at The Plough, Itchen Abbas. Lovely place to stay. Staff were great and really friendly. Food was really good. Good beer selection too. Rooms were very nice, clean and comfy. Excellent outside seating area. Highly recommended for a stay.

This particular evening was The Pub Quiz. Interesting food, served efficiently as ever, great atmosphere.
It’s my local and I always prefer to eat here as the food is consistently excellent, the staff great. I have an allergy and they will always tweak a dish for me or offer an alternative.

Excellent hostelry in the beautiful Itchen valley in the centre of Hampshire.

Fantastic Highly recommend this old charm pub and accommodation at The Plough in England. Our first day just landed from Australia and stayed our first night in this tranquil setting. Alex greater us and showed us our beautiful room with private balcony. Enjoyed a magnificent dinner with local beer. Great nights sleep with scrumptious breakfast the next morning. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Well done to the team you made our first night in England very memorable. Thank you so much

We had an INCREDIBLE Easter Sunday Roast here. We were a party of 20, and it was a seamless service. We arrived, food came out piping hot and all together as soon as we were ready for it, it was delicious, really reasonably priced, and every staff member we met made a big effort to make it a special visit. We’ve eaten in big groups before, and so often there are problems with service or food, but The Plough NAILED it. Thanks. We’ll be back! X

Short drive from Micheldever woods or walk from Avington House. Enjoyed a delicious lunch sat outside with family and the dog. Staff were friendly and accommodating. There was no delay with service. Food was delicious, highly recommend the pork medallions, steak & ale pie and fish & chips.

Great attention to detail- room had oat milk and lovely towels.

This was ALWAYS getting 5 stars throughout.
From the moment we walked through the door (and thinking "yes, this is it") we were immediately greeted by the perfect host, Charliegh (hope that's how you spell it, 😉) who showed us to our room. It was perfect!
Let's move on to host extraordinaire Ashley. He looked after us when we decided to dine in.
My wife can highly recommend the cod and chunky chips and I've now added a favourite burger to my list. Your version of burger with blue cheese!!! Amazing!!
Top that off with a couple of pints of your local ale and a cheeky whiskey and you have the perfect evening in a perfect setting.
I couldn't fault the breakfast staff either, sorry, meant to get all your names.

We would highly recommend The Plough. We chose it after looking at reviews and it was all that we had hoped for and more. Excellent food and personal service from everyone, but a particular mention for the lady in the restaurant in the evening. She made our anniversairy meal extra special. We look forward to returning.

Stayed DBB for a Saturday night and the Plough certainly lived up to reviews posted by previous guests. Good sized and well furnished bedroom with a small but perfectly adequate shower room plus a great balcony. The Plough has a welcoming, convivial and relaxed atmosphere epitomised by the excellent Alex who mainly hosted our stay. The food, both at evening meal and breakfast, was well prepared, of good quality and the service was top notch. We have a wonderful break so thank you very much.

We wanted to stay in a quiet place out of town for our visit to Winchester and this was a gorgeous little place. Really lovely staff, clean & comfortable rooms, perfect location 10 mins from the city. I can honestly say the food was the best we’ve had in a very long time. Recommend the sea bass and the fish & chips, although it all looked great, really imaginative and perfectly cooked. We’ll definitely go back there! A+++++

I regularly meet friends at The Plough for lunch and we always have a wonderful meal served by friendly, helpful staff. It is one of the few places I feel I can recommend to others, knowing they too will have a great experience. We have not stayed in the rooms as we live fairly near.

Christmas Eve family lunch. Food was really nicely cooked and well presented. Confit duck and fondant potato a particular hit. Traditional turkey spot on too. Always grateful that my local is able to cater for my rather niche low histamine dietary requirements! Friendly service too, highly recommend

We booked a 2 night stay at the Plough and used it as a base to visit Winchester. It’s a lovely, homely and stylish pub and the rooms are small but very clean and well presented. We ate at the pub both nights and the food was just perfect. The breakfast was cereal, fruit and/or Greek yoghurt and a choice of hot food. We didn’t get to walk in the local area but it’s a very short drive to a Park & Ride and we used this to visit the city. I’d happily recommend the pub for both a stay or for dinner.
